Cute SPRING Blocks

Oh Boy, it's only my second day of school and I have the worst head cold in the universe!  I ran a mile today in my running class and now I feel even worse (but at least I exercised!).

I am posting a set of blocks I made a while back.  I guess I forgot to post them, or thought nobody would care!  Well, I want to show them to you anyways:)  I think they turned out pretty darn cute.

I used some scrap wood I had laying around, Basic Grey scrapbook paper, Mod Podge and my best friend Cricut for cutting out the letters!

Take a lookey:

I got that cute little birdie at Micheal's for about 3 bucks!

I think I used the Don Juan Font on my Cricut.

Happy Spring!!

Spring Flower Wall Art- My Take

You know I love going to Salvation Army when they have the 1/2 off sale.  I have a huge bag full of stuff that I haven't done anything with yet, but I am slowly working my way through it!

During Spring Break (which is over for us....SAD) I got creative and made a cute framed Flower Wall Art for my living room.  I didn't do a tutorial for you, because I can't totally take credit for it.  Alison over at Oopsey-Daisy did one too and I patterned mine after her fabulous looking one!  She did a great tutorial on her blog.

Instead of using Burlap for my background, I used a fabric quarter I got from Joann's 40% off!  I didn't sew on mine, and Alison did.  I was too lazy:) I painted spray painted my frame aqua blue.

Well, here she is.....Whatcha think????
I glued everything on with a glue gun.  I used a piece of cardboard from a cereal box for the backing.  I sprayed adhesive on the cardboard and attached the fabric.

I love how it brightens up my living room!

I start school tomorrow.  I am taking Math, Spanish, Health and a Running class!
I am going to be a busy woman, but hopefully I will still be able to have time for some crafting too!!

Fabric Pom Pom Necklace

I can't seem to get enough of these fabric flowers!  I am having so much fun making them.  They are so easy!  I got the tutorial from Little Miss Momma's blog where you can find many more great and easy tutorials!  She is awesome!!

For my Pom Pom necklace, I chose to use denim material, since my daughter was getting rid of some jeans.  I love the denim look and I can't wait to make a denim rosette headband too!!
I like how it looks with my denim jacket!

Go through your family's jeans.  They are sure to have some old ones they need to get rid of!
Go create something!  You really can't go wrong with these necklaces.

Have a spectacular Weekend;)

New Blog Design!!

Have you noticed anything different about my blog the last few days?   Yep, it got a make over!

A few months ago, I won a $30 gift certificate for a new blog design.  I was sooooo jazzed I couldn't stand it!  The only drawback was I had to wait about 2 months, but I was patient:)

Designer Blogs is a fabulous group of gals who are super talented!  I love what they did to my blog.  They were very nice to work with and my blog design is exactly what I wanted! They have a variety of blog designs to choose from and for every budget.  They even have several free backgrounds!

Anthro inspired Pernilla Necklace

I have been so excited to show you this!!  Have you been over to Flamingo Toes Blog?  Well, this whole week she is making knock off's of Anthropologie's coolest looking necklaces!  She is super talented and does an awesome job:)

I have admired her knock off's for a while now, and this week I decided to try my own!  Here is what I did:
Not bad, huh?  I have never really made a necklace before, but this was relatively easy, especially with the directions Beverly at Flamingo Toes gave.  They were super easy to follow!
My teenage daughter makes jewelry, so we already had all of these beads.  I had to buy the chain, but got it 40% off at Micheal's.  Great deal!!

Flamingo Toes is also giving away all of the necklaces she is making this week!  I so want to win one!!  Go give one a try this week;)

Lovely T-shirt Make-over

I was at Target the other day and found 2 of the same shirt for $2.50 each.  They were long sleeve and V-neck.  I knew I had to buy them and try a make-over with them!  I have been wanting to try this for months, but haven't had the courage too.

I stumbled across this blog a few weeks ago, and I love her shirt redo tutorials.  She gives awesome directions!  This is where I got the idea for mine. Now remember, this is the first one I have done and I am NOT a seamstress by any means.  Sewing even kinda stresses me out, but I like how it turned out!

I also used another tutorial from another blog for the sleeves.  They were long sleeves, but I changed them to 3/4 sleeve length.  I feel terrible, because I can't remember the name of the blog that I got that tutorial from.  If anyone knows, please tell me so I can give here credit!!

The neckline seemed a little stretched out when I was done, but I was planning on wearing that white shirt underneath anyways (don't like the cleavage look).
I really was happy with the way it turned out.  I have been wearing it everywhere!
It probably took me about 2 hours to make, but for my first time, I don't think that was too bad!

I can't wait to show you what I made today!  I am lovin' Spring Break!  My kids are keeping busy and I am able to create some lovlies:)

SPRING barn wood sign Tutorial

I have been so excited to show you this!  The other day I went to the Salvation Army's 1/2 off sale.  I LOVE when they have their sale!!  It makes me sooo happy:)

So I went shopping and found all of these treasures:

See the sign?  It's really not THAT ugly, but I wanted to make something different from it, so I took my palm sander to it!  All of these goodies cost me about .50-$1.00!  Love a good deal, right??

After I sanded the heck out of it, I spray painted it with heirloom white.
Then I picked out my paint colors:
Folk Art- Sweetheart Pink
Americana- Spa Blue
Americana- Lilac
Delta- Custard
Americana- Tangerine

Next, I cut out the letters with my Cricut machine.  I used white contact paper and it worked great!  That saves a ton of money!!

After the machine cut out the letters, I made sure I kept the inside of the R, P, and G.  Then I stippled using the contact paper cut letters as stencils.  It went really fast!  I only had to redo the I. The first one was too light, so I changed to Sweetheart pink.  It worked perfectly!

When the paint was dry, I sanded over the letters just a little and over the rest of the sign.  Then I glued some large ric rac on the top and bottom with my glue gun.

Next, I added 3 little ribbon rosette's on each side to fill up some blank space.  The sign already had some wire attached to hang, but I decided to replace it with new 19 gauge wire.

How do you think it looks?? I would love to hear your comments!

I get a big smile on my face when I see it!  I really love the orange ric rac!!

Paper Rosette flower Spring Wreath

I saw this tutorial the other day when I was searching the internet.  I loved the idea of using paper for the rosettes!  I have a TON of scrapbook paper, so was really excited to make these.

I also wanted to make a wreath and somehow incorporate the paper rosettes.  Here is what I came up with!

I am happy with how it turned out.  I got the ribbon at Dollar Tree, along with the wreath form.  The ribbon, burlap, paper and stick on little pearly thingys I already had.

I was really surprised at how easy it was to make the paper rosette's!  You basically just smoosh the paper as you are moving it around like you would fabric or ribbon.  You don't have to twist it.  It's super easy and I think it looks good:)
I forgot, I added some of the rolled flowers as well.  Here is a great tutorial for those.

I can't wait to show you what I found at Salvation Army and repurposed!  I LOVE how it turned out:)  See you tomorrow!!

Lamp Shade cover Redo Tutorial

First I have to tell you I am by no means a expert in sewing.  I can do the basic stuff, and I have made costumes for my kids in the past, but usually they don't turn out the way I want them too!  I have very little patience with a pattern.

I have had these lamps for about Mmmmmm 17yrs!  I am really sick of the early 90's look of the fabric.  So the first step was taking the cover off.
See how ugly that fabric is?  I LOVED it when my friend first made them.  They were gorgeous and I was a newlywed who was clueless about stuff like that.  That is my lamp shade next to the fabric.  See all the lovely pleats?  I didn't want them there anymore, so I ripped them off too.
Here's what it looked liked as I was ripping it off.  I admit I was a little scared that I may be ruining the shade, but I was willing to take the chance.

After the pleated stuff was off, then I picked the fabric.  I chose some Amy Butler fabric.

Isn't it perdy?  Now, the next step I didn't take any pictures of, but I measured
around the lamp shade and took my fabric and kind of eyed it (like I said, I don't have a lot of patience and I am not a perfectionist).

I liked the style of the old lamp shade cover, so I just copied it.
I sewed 2 basting stitches (don't backstitch) around the top (where the ruffle will be, about 1/4 inch apart) and on the bottom (about 1/4 inch).
Oooo, not a very clear picture, but I thought I should take one of me on the sewing machine!

This is what the 2 basting stitches look like.  Remember not to back stitch!

Here is what it looks like after I pulled the gathers on the top.  It takes a while, and I am not a pro at gathers, so it took me like an hour....I didn't want to break my threads and have to start over!
Next, I pulled the cover on top of the shade and hot glued it in random places.

For the Rosettes, I just ripped strips (about 8 or so inches long and 2 inches wide) of a coordinating fabric.  I didn't include how to make a rosette, but there is a great tutorial HERE.
Next, I sewed a little pucker in 3 places around the cover to glue my rosettes too.
Here's what it looks like after you sew the pucker.

There is the finished rosette glued on. Cute, right?  I didn't include how to make a rosette, but there is a fabulous tutorial HERE.

There is my new lovely lamp shade cover!  I have more pictures to show you of my lamps new color!  See the black lamp?  It's not black anymore:)

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

St. Patricks Day Wood decor Redo

Don't forget to enter my Spring cards and tags Giveaway!!  Click here to see what you can win:) Ends tonight at midnight!

Many moons ago, I made a cute St. Patrick's day Wood craft. It was when I was REALLY into Tole Painting.  Have you ever tried that?  It is so cool!  I loved it.  I made a TON of cute Wood crafts.  I still love this one, but it needed something.  Here is what I did:
Cute, right?  They were just plain old wood, with no embellishments.  I added burlap (of course!), buttons, and a cute shamrock cut out of some fabric I found at Joann's in their remnant bin (wahoo!).

It's amazing how much better something can look with just a little sprucing, huh?  I feel like it's a brand new decoration!

Have you redone an old craft of yours recently?  I would love to see it!!

Sunday Recipe: Chicken Stroganoff

Don't forget to enter my Spring cards and tags Giveaway!!  Click here to see what you can win:)

Today it is raining cats and dogs!  I haven't seen so much rain in a looooong time!  What should I expect....I live in Oregon, right?

Well, this recipe is PERFECT for a rainy day like today!

Chicken Stroganoff

3 or 4 lbs of chicken tenders or chicken breasts, cut into pieces.
Brown chicken in Olive oil; season with Lawry's season salt, seasoned pepper, lemon pepper and regular salt.  Remove chicken when brown; drain fat.

Then use 1/4 C. margerine and saute onion, then mushrooms.
Add chicken and soups, milk and fresh parsley.  Fold together and add to noodles.  May need more milk if too thick.  Don't boil, just heat.  Top with Sour cream.
Sour Cream
1 lg onion or more
2 or 3 sliced fresh onions
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 can of cream of celery soup
1 cup of milk
1 pkg. cooked egg noodles
1tsp. Lawry's Season Salt
1/2 tsp. seasoned pepper
1/4 tsp lemon pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
I served the Stroganoff with Breadsticks and Jello Salad.  Here's the Jello salad recipe:

Strawberries
Grapes
Any other fruit you like
Mix 1 16 oz. container of Cool Whip with 1 container of Strawberry yogurt.

Mix with fruit.  Serve!  Yummy Salad.  It seems like it should be dessert!

My family LOVES this recipe! I hope yours does too!
